RE: The tariff classification of Clobetasol Propionate Cream 0.05 % in dosage form, from India
Dear Ms. Keeler:
In your letter dated March 18, 2020, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
Clobetasol Propionate Cream 0.05%, imported in 15 g, 30 g, 45 g and 60 g, is a synthetic corticosteroid. It is indicated for the topical treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis as well as the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
The applicable subheading for the Clobetasol Propionate Cream 0.05 % in dosage form will be 3004.32.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments … consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses … or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other, containing hormones or other products of heading 2937: Containing corticosteroid hormones, their derivatives or structural analogues.” The rate of duty will be free.
